MAGIC APPLE SCHOOL ENROLLMENT POLICY:
Questions and Answers Regarding Enrollment Policy: Please read carefully to avoid disappointment in the event that a space is not available for your student(s). The questions below have all been presented to us and we hope you find them helpful in understanding how we fill our fall spaces in our highly competitive programs.
How do I guarantee a fall space at Magic and or Apple for my student:
Attend at least 20 days at either summer camp for a 5-day fall space.
Attend at least 16 days at either summer camp for a 4-day fall space.
Attend at least 12 days at either summer camp for a 3-day fall space.
Attend at least 8 days at either summer camp for a 2-day fall space.
Pay 1⁄2 tuition to hold any of the above spaces without actual attendance.
I am sending my child for five days for two weeks and 3 days for two weeks—may I have a five--‐day space in the fall?
In the above scenario your student would have attended a total of 16 days-‐four short of the 20 required (your student would be eligible for a 4,3, or 2 day guaranteed fall space, however with the option of adding additional days when they became available. You would also have the option to pay 1/2 tuition to guarantee a fall space or attend Camp Apple for the four additional days.
What are the dates of all camps? May we combine attendance to meet the minimum for fall?
You may attend any of our wonderful camps listed below provided you meet the minimum grade level attendance as well :
Magic Apple’s Camp Western Town (Fall gr. 2-6, 4 weeks of camp) June 11-15 18-22. 25-29 and July 2-6.
Camp Apple (Fall gr. 2-5, 8 weeks of camp) June 11--15, June 18-22 (NO Camp Apple July 2-6), June 25-29, July 9-13, July 16-20 , July 23-27, July 30-August 3, August 6-10.
Magic Apple's Extreme Science Camp (Fall gr. 3-5, instructor approval, 1-2* week(s) of camp). July 9-13
* please contact Cisco or Minh if interested in joining a wait list for possible camp August 6-10 Note: The subject matter and experiences of this camp are designed for students with a strong interest in the sciences, coding, etc.
Students may mix and match weeks at either camp to guarantee fall enrollment as long as the minimum number of required camp attendance has been met (see above).
How do I start an enrollment request ?
Complete the summer camp or fall brochure and attach any required fees. Contact the school to arrange a tour with your student (approx. 15 minutes).
Are my deposit and materials refundable?
Checks are not cashed until after the visit and both parents and teachers agree that enrollment would be in the best interest of the child. Once enrollment is agreed upon by both parties, deposits and materials fees become non-refundable. If an application has been received and the tour completed, it is imperative that families confirm their intent to enroll ASAP--spaces will not be held until enrollment has been agreed upon by both parties.
We want a space in the fall but my student will be attending . . . karate camp, drama camp, tennis camp, junior guards, etc.
Summer students at Apple gain advantages in several ways. Besides are enriching classes, activities and emphasis on classroom readiness, summer students attending Camp Apple do have priority in the fall if meeting the above minimum attendance requirements. One reason for our waiting lists is that we offer very high quality programs in beautiful settings at very reasonable costs. It is unreasonable to expect us to be able to hold spaces without any tuition.
Why do you give priority to summer students?
We give priority to currently enrolled families in both the summer and/or fall programs because they are prioritizing and supporting our schools through the consistent enrollment of their children. Tuition is the only source of income for our wonderful staff, leases, insurances, etc.; Apple is not subsidized in any way.
My student already attends Apple; why can’t you enroll another student for the summer and then give us our space back to return in the fall?
As most new families are aware, the best time to gain admission to our popular programs is in the summer ( new spaces develop as Apple 1st graders may move to Magic Apple and 6th sixth graders graduate from Magic Apple). Again, it is unreasonable to expect an enrolled summer student to leave because a former student wishes to return.
Are there alternatives to the four week requirement if we will be gone but want a guaranteed space in the fall?
If you are unable to meet the minimum number of attendance days to guarantee a fall space, you may elect to pay tuition at ½ the regular amount and a space will be held for your student in the fall. You may elect to attend any portion of the minimum 4 weeks and pay ½ the regular amount to complete the requirement (the number of families enrolling in these option will be limited, however, as our schools are small and we are very dependent on tuition to meet the numerous expenses associated with our high quality programs). You may also elect to split attendance between Magic Apple’s Western Town and Camp Apple.
What if I want my student to attend, or I want to pay one-half tuition to hold a space but I don’t have all the funds right now?
Unlike most other programs, contact us (Aubrey (831.685.0629) at Apple and/or Minh/Jan at Magic Apple (831.688.1753) and let us know your would like to send a post-dated check in advance and we will hold your payment until the date indicated.
I am sending my child for three 5-days sessions and 1 3-days the second session—may I have a five day space in the fall?
Your child would be guaranteed a fall space for five days per week only if they met the minimum number of attendance days. As the minimum number of days for fall is 20 days you would be guaranteed a 5,4 or 3-day fall space, or you could elect to pay 1/2 tuition to hold the space.
Do I have to keep the same days of the week in the fall that my child attended in the summer?
Part-time students (2 or 3 days) will be given first choice of preferred days in the fall and may request different days from their summer attendance as long as minimum attendance has been met.
What if we want to return in the fall and we are NOT enrolling in the summer at either program NOR electing to pay one-half tuition to hold our space for the fall?
Your student would be added to the waiting lists. You may check on a fall space in early August, after summer students have made their choices for fall.
Will my student be prioritized as a returning student if not attending in the summer?
Your student will be placed on the waiting list as of the last date they attended.
