Dearest Magic Apple Family:
Reminders: - INVICTUS will be our poem of the month to memorize (grade 2 may memorize 1 stanza and grade 3 2 stanzas only), although the amazing Miss Murphy Brown, a second grader, recited the entire poem today!! We currently have over 10 students who’ve already memorized this important poem (see below) selected by Fran because of Nelson Mandela’s reference to it as a source of strength during his captivity.
- SWIMMING will continue on Fridays as long as the weather keeps being so amazingly warm.
- ANIMAL OF THE WEEK: We’ll finish up our unit on spiders this week with more interesting facts about these arachnids. Ask your student if people often die from spider bits (many more deaths attributed to wasps and bee stings), which is larger (females—go girls), and how long they live (most less than a year).
DRAMA and GREEK MYTHOLOGY: This week’s exciting tale with be the story of ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE as our students learn the story of a very unlucky bride and the determined groom who sets out to bring her back from the Underworld. Interested actors will use scripts to present the lesson in a fun and exciting play!
COOKING: Students this week will be baking pumpkin empanadas using dough and canned pumpkin—watch for the yummy recipe to come home.
ART: Special thanks to Kim Mansfield (Emily’s mom) for her wonderful gift of Day of the Dead Activity Book. Students will be encouraged to create their own characters in this unique style and/or decorate a skull shaped mask. - Have a great week--your students will be!

Dear Magic Apple Families:
OUR ANNUAL SPRING SHOW, I BOOGIE to the Beat, will feature students from both Apple Afterschool AND our sister school, Magic Apple (grades 2-6). This amazing display of talent will be on Saturday, May 24th, from 2:30-4:30 (approximately). We will be sending home order forms for ticket sales, school performance shirts (see information below, and a performance DVD/VHS of the show. All of the sales will go to our many production related costs (rental of the beautiful Aptos High School Center for Performing Arts, sound and light techs, etc. As some of you have never seen our annual shows; prepare to be absolutely amazed at the level of talent and confidence you will see—from our very youngest at Apple to our oldest Magic Apple students, now ready to enter middle school. As we are nearing our last chances to practice together; please do everything you can to avoid absences and early pick ups before 4:30 in the next few weeks.
Our students really work together in learning choreography and memorizing lyrics so be sure to invite friends and family and bring your cameras to this remarkable performance. We especially love the way our students enjoy one another during the performance—be sure to watch Magic’s youngest students dancing on the side of the stage mimicking the complex choreography of the upper graders and the upper graders asking the little ones for high fives and spilling out with compliments—it’s such a wonderful all around experience for our students that we can’t wait to share with you!
SCHOOL PERFORMANCE SHIRT: The show will alternate with performances from both schools and then a finale featuring our rendition of James Taylor’s classic, “You’ve Got a Friend”. We would like all students to wear their performance shirt if possible at the very end of the show. If interested in ordering one for your student (besides being adorable, all students will have their name listed on the back), please send check to Janice Jimenez (not Magic or Apple as this is NOT income, but rather proceeds to be used towards many show related costs). Youth size shirts are $16 (indicate S size 6-8 M size 8-10 L size 12-14 or XL size similar to adult small). We have already ordered the shirts and expect to have them next week; please order so your student won’t be disappointed.
MANDATORY REHEARSALS will be two Wednesdays in May: the 14th and 21st at Aptos High Theater, from 1:15-4:45. This is our only time to practice as a group, entrances, exits, staging, etc. etc. Students attending Wednesdays will be transported directly to the high school. Students NOT attending Wednesdays should arrange to meet us at the high school Performing Arts Center at 1:15 and to be picked up after 4:30. Students should also bring $6 (cash) for pizza and drinks for when we take a break. This is NOT a dress rehearsal
A COSTUME LIST for the show is posted online. Please remember, however, all students should come dressed in black as we will be layering costumes over the basic black for simplicity and timeliness. Boys should wear a t-shirt and jeans, Girls, tank and leggings—all black tennis shoes. Costumes should be brought in a labeled fabric bag.
STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE approximately 15 minutes before the show. Please resist trying to walk your performer back stage! We will have student alumni from middle and high schools (who love helping and always let us know this was one of the best experiences of their elementary years) who will walk your student to Aubrey, Audrey and Jenna backstage. This will also ensure that you are able to find a seat; it will be packed but fortunately Aptos’s theater does have stadium seating.
MAGIC APPLE’S CAMP WESTERN TOWN is highly competitive, however, as a currently enrolled Magic Apple family you are the only ones with a guaranteed space for summer camp—if you request it be the deadline of May 28th. Again, all that is needed to enroll is the form below and the materials fee. Please remember, that only students attending the minimum amount of summer camp days (at either Western Town or Camp Apple) will have a guaranteed space in our fall 2014/2015 session. We work very hard to be fair in filling spaces in our wonderful programs and ask that you take the time to read the attached enrollment policy information to avoid hurt feelings.

Dear Magic Families:
Please don't forget the TOP TEN REMINDERS for the next two weeks . . .
1) Let us know if you will need full day (use of any hours between 8-5:30) or after school care (2-5:30) on December 23 and/or Dec. 27th. We will make a decision as to whether or not to offer these sessions based on your response. The fee for the full day is $35 per day and there is no fee for after school hours, however, students must be pre-registered. Please let us know by Wed. Dec. 18 so we may plan accordingly in hiring staff. Please remember also, full day camps are held at the campus of our sister school, APPLE AFTERSCHOOL, 221 Thunderbird Drive (831) 685-0629.
2) To arrive on time in picking up your student or have a back up plan in place--it get's very cold and dark on the bus!
3) To pay your tuition by the tenth. Please also don't forget to pay January 2014 tuition by the tenth even if your student will not be attending. As stated in our enrollment contracts, TUITION at our schools remains constant whether students are in attendance or not as stated in our enrollment contracts. We could never offer the quality we do if we were a "drop in" center.
4) To avoid absences and early pick-ups so that we may practice for our holiday show. Every day a different song is practiced; missing once IS MISSING A WEEK and may impact a student ability to participate—show are a TEAM effort!
5) To save the dates:
Wednesday, Dec. 18 mandatory practice at Resurrection (students not attending Wednesdays may meet us there) from 12:45-2:30,
Thursday, Dec. 19 HOLIDAY SHOW at Resurrection 4:00-5:30
6) To send a wrapped gift (girls buy for girls, boys for boys) the week of Dec. 16-20 for OPTIONAL gift exchange; Jan and Fran have gifts for all students so no worries. Party will be on Friday, Dec. 20 Please label gifts "to a boy/girl from . . ."
7) Students should dress in red/white/black for our holiday show. Everyone needs a RED SANTA HAT. Gr. 2-4 Monday students need a Hawaiian Lei (may be made from Christmas deco if desired).
8) It would be great if all students in grades 2-4 could have a jingle bell wrist band or necklace (handmade or Dollar Store on 41st) for Jingle Bell Rock song.
9) Admission will be charged at the show. You may write your check ($15 per adult) to Resurrection Church (for the wonderful GET ON THE BUS program that enables children of incarcerated parents visit them on Mother's and Father's day by chartered bus) or LOS MEDICOS VALADORES (for the Haitian orphanage fun by an incredible diminutive yet forceful nun, Sister Flora). Students ages 6 and up will be charged $8 with 100% of the proceeds donated to one of the above charities chosen by our remarkable Magic Apple students during a class meeting.
10) WINTER CAMP description and registration is attached. In order to plan accordingly we need to hear from you by Dec. 20th. As we hire staff based on your response, unfortunately, students NOT pre-registered might have to be turned away if they show up without pre-registering. As mentioned before you may always call Apple in the morning (685-0629) to check on availability for the day; however, pleaser remember, although we will certainly do our best to accommodate your family we cannot guarantee enrollment without pre-registration.

Chinese Acrobats performance enthralls students--see videos below !!
March 8, 2011
DEAR MAGIC APPLE FAMILIES:
TUITION: Please remember that tuition is due tomorrow and LATE (add $15) after the 10th; thanks for your help with this.
MARCH IS NEW CHOREOGRAPHY MONTH: We will now begin learning new dances every day of the week, so please help us by making sure your student is here until 4:30, avoiding early pick ups and absences. Everyday of the week a different dance is learned. Students who are absent are actually missing the equivalent to one week and unfortunately running the risk of having to be excluded from a dance.
SPRING CAMP AT APPLE: During the week of April 25-29 a special session of Spring Camp will be offered for both Magic and Apple students at the Apple Afterschool Campus (221 Thunderbird Drive). We have field trips and fun themes: Carnival Day (including a trip to the movie's to see Disney's Rio), Monkey
Day (featuring a "wild thing" dance off and banana splits), PP Day (Pajama party and pizza field trip in our pj's), House of Cards Day (design your own deck, house of cards and card games) and even a Mad Hatter Tea Party Day. All of our special themes will involve fun and exciting lessons as well as special projects involving art, cooking, drama, and more. Students may use any hours between 7:45 and 5:30 (tuition is $35 per day). If interested, watch for spring camp full day session request forms to be posted beginning next week.
VIDEOS of the CHINESE ACROBATS are now on the Magic Apple Parent website, magicappleparents.net; be sure to check them out under the tab "notes home". You'll see giant yo-yo balancing, a variety of acrobatic stunts, balancing a giant ceramic pot on the head and neck, and incredible spinning plates! We were so thrilled to present this exciting program to our students from the Bureau of Arts and Lectures as a thank you for all the wonderful work they've done on behalf of others. From protecting the wolves of Yellowstone, to remembering those still suffering in Haiti, to collecting hundred's of socks for the local homeless community, to contributing over $1000 to the Lazarus project feeding the hungry of Aptos--our remarkable Magic Apple students (and their wonderfully supportive families) deserved this special and unique performance.
POETRY CLUB: Magic Apple students are now challenged to learn the new poem for this month , THE MICROSCOPE (see POETRY TAB) to earn their poetry club medal and join in on the recitation at this years show (4 poems must have been completed). This wonderful poem extends Fran's recent science lesson on the amazing Leeuwenhoek and the microscope. So far over 20 students have recited the poem from memory and it's just the beginning of March! Students who learn this poem and/or February's "I Have a Dream" will be treated to the movie, Rango, to be arranged later this month.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS: There really isn't a greater gift for your student than the love of reading; please check out the catalogues, Lucky and Arrow--both are posted on our class website for easy ordering online. Just go to Scholastic book club, our class activation code is GL7GK.
DANCE and ART: One of our student's favorite new dances for this year's show is about the circus and we've created an exciting mixed media art project centered around clowns as well. Please try to visit classroom to see the amazing results that we've already framed and posted on our bulletin board as well as the many masterpieces still in progress on the art table. Your students are sooo creative and their works and ideas so original. We also have last week's POETRY with INKBLOTS art and poetry creations on the bulletin board in room 1; be sure to see them as well--very impressive.
SCIENCE: Special thanks to Science Leader, Dakota Jones (and mom Ellen) for helping us set up a super cool microbiology experiment. Over the next few weeks students will first swab some samples on agar. Then the cultures will grow and finally we'll put the gross but soooo cool samples on slides to examine under the microscope--it's gonna be great!!
COOKING: We'll use chow mein noodles, peanuts, and butterscotch chips to create a sticky mixture for students to shape into BIRD NESTS. After they dry (watch for the recipe) we'll add a couple of eggs (jelly beans) and then eat--yum!
GREEK MYTHOLOGY: Last week students loved learned about Pegasus and his arrogant owner who never was invited to live with the gods in Mount Olympus. This week we'll learn about some of the great adventure of Hercules and then sketch our favorite scenes. This project is going to be even more fun as Jan kept samples from the last time students did this (2008) and many of our current 5th and 6th graders will be able to see their renderings from that time--fun!
GREAT INVENTIONS FROM CHINA: Students will learn about the many incredible inventions attributed to this super power this week; be sure to ask your student to tell you about some of them (porcelain, paper, the science of astronomy, fireworks, folding umbrellas, compass, martial arts, noodles, silk, kites, wheelbarrows as well as key discoveries in science, agriculture, and mathematics. Our students loved the acrobats and being so close really gave us an inkling of the work and practice involved--don't forget to watch the videos.
Have a wonderful week, your students certainly will be! Jan and Fran

MAGIC and APPLE STUDENTS REWARDED WITH CHINESE ACROBAT SHOW!!
AMAZING ACROBATS FROM CHINA VISIT APTOS IN A PRIVATE PERFORMANCE!
Our impressive students have worked hard on behalf of so many--from raising money for the Lazarus project, to supporting wolf preservation in Yellowstone National Park, to ongoing support for Haitian children--we couldn't be more proud of our students and their concern and compassion for others. We were especially thrilled to reward their efforts with these wonderful acrobats sent to us by the Bureau of Arts and Lectures. It was especially thrilling for our students as we were able to literally have them all to ourselves, and very "up close and personal" as they visited the campus of Apple Afterschool this February.
EXCITING INTRODUCTION TO THE PROGRAM THAT WOULD FOLLOW . . .
January 19, 2011
It's student body election time at Magic Apple!!
Seeking an office at Magic provides unique and invaluable benefits for our students and we hope you will support your student’s effort in bringing a campaign poster and speech in the coming weeks. Many of the Aptos Jr. and High School past and present student body officers were former Magic Apple students who learned about the value and satisfaction of being a student leader at an early age. Please be sure to review the list of offices below with your child to encourage participation (parents of younger children, don’t worry--our “upper graders” are truly inspirational role models and many primary students become motivated to seek office after initially watching the entire procedure).
Please note all offices have junior (grades. 2-3 versions) unless noted otherwise:
Mon. Jan 24: President & VP Gr. 6, Jr. President & VP Gr. 5, Jr. Jr. President & VP G. 4, Presidential Council gr. 5+, Presidential Advisor gr. 6, Spirit Leaders gr. 5+
Tues. Jan 25: Sports Helpers, Bus Patrol Gr. 5+, Sergeant-at-Arms Gr. 5+, Poetry Club Helpers, Study Hall Helpers Gr. 5+
Wed. Jan 26: Student Store Helpers Gr. 5 + (M-F students only), Science Leaders (must attend Wednesdays), Bell Helpers (rings bell for teachers)
Thur Jan 27: Art Helpers, School Mediators (conflict resolution specialists), Meditation Helpers (rings gong for meditation), Greenhouse Helpers
Fri Jan 28: Classroom Decorators, Lego Helpers, Cooking Helpers, Drama Helpers, Video Game Helpers, Roller Racer Helper, School Nurse Helper **Make-ups for illness and pre-approved absences only.
Students wishing to seek office on a day they do not normally attend may be brought by their parents at 3:00 (1:00 on Wednesday); call to arrange
Notes. Each student should have 3 positions in mind—this way they are guaranteed to win at least one office (students need only ONE “vote for . . . “ poster, however, and may reuse it when seeking different offices). All students will also need an age-appropriate speech (interest, experience, qualifications, etc.). Students are then asked questions by the voters and all candidates are always greeted with thunderous applause as everyone acknowledges and appreciates their effort!

SCIENCE WITH FRAN IS ALWAYS A REAL "BLAST" AT MAGIC APPLE!
Dear Magic Apple Families:
POETRY SOCIETY: So we assumed when we mentioned a reward for memorizing a rather length and complex poem that perhaps 20 might succeed. Today we will be taking nearly 60 Magic Apple members of our Poetry Society to see MEGAMIND at the Green Valley Cinema! Students will need $7 (extra treat money is also okay); we will leave afters students arrive and then meet parents directly at Deer Park after the movie ends; approx. 5:20-5:30.
SCIENCE IS A REAL TREASURE FOR OUR MAGIC APPLE STUDENTS: Fran has instilled in our lucky students such wonder about science. They have truly absorbed that science is interesting, that science is exciting, and best of all that science is fun. After a wonderful lesson with dry ice and other great visuals, Fran taught a lesson about the states of matter and atoms and molecules. Students were the divided into multi-aged cooperative learning groups to come up with a team name and motto to perform for all. The lesson then culminated with each group blasting off our mentos and diet coke concoction (see more great photos on the Magic Apple home page).
During this weeks lesson, THE METHUSELAH TREE, Fran showed footage of this incredible (and yet unassuming) tree with roots that go back over 4,600 years predating even the Great Pyramids. It has outlived entire civilizations, survived lethal attacks and weathered climate changes--including the Nuclear Age. Fran showed footage of a top-secret location in the White Mountains of California and recreations of the trees most certain contacts with Native Americans, modern scientists, miners, and more.
INCREDIBLE POETRY by MAGIC APPLE AUTHORS: After the above science lesson, Fran asked students for a poem about this remarkable nearly 5,000 year old tree. We were both stunned by this amazing work from Isabella Price, grade 5.
EVERLASTING
4,600 candles on my cake
I'm the Methuselah with every flake.
I am older than anyone
and it's been a lot of fun
I am not skinny
and neither am I mini.
The human being is my enemy
I I've always kept it in my memory.
An Indian shot an arrow in my bark
I must remark.
I have seen the sun rise as the days fly,
I have seen the sun set into the moon
Like the sky is holding a giant balloon.
I am the tree with the oldest personality
I am the tree that holds the key to immortality.
I am the Methuselah
I am Everlasting.
LIFE AND DEATH: Our students brought concerns about a young father of a Rio Del Mar student who recently passed away. David Borba, Ellia's dad, shared a remarkable book with us, The Fall of Freddie the Leaf, by Leo Buscaglia, PH.D which really touches upon life and death in a very moving away. Afterwards Fran shared some feelings in losing his mother a year ago, and was moved by student Rowen Short, who gave this to him shortly after the lesson.
There once was an apple great in shine
She was ninety nine.
She knew one day she would fall and her friends wouldn't know why.
Why, why, ninety nine?
Then they thought it is soon to come.
All I know is we have friends and parents that we all love
and this is all just a hope of life and death.
OBVIOUSLY, we are not joking when we constantly say, we have the BRIGHTEST and MOST COMPASSIONATE STUDENTS EVER!
MAGIC APPLE REMINDERS:
Tue. November 9: NUTRITION SPEAKER: We are so excited and grateful to Haley's mom, Katherine Hannigan, who will visit today to speak
to Magic Apple Students about making healthy choices in choosing foods for optimum nutrition.
Wed. November 10: THINK LIKE A POET DAY: Bring black, red, and white clothes in your backpack to put on (they we know you remembered). We, your Magic Apple Poetry Leaders, will then have fun contests and games, like pin the title on the poetry book and create the best poem!
Thur. November 11 & 12: PVUSD and MAGIC APPLE schools closed for Veteran's Day observance.
November and December: Please try to pick up your student after 4:30 and avoid absences so we can get ready for our holiday show.
Thursday Dec 16: MAGIC APPLE'S HOLIDAY SHOW: Mark your calendars for Thursday, December, 16 and be sure to invite friends and family for our annual holiday show at Resurrection Church (across from Safeway), from 4:00-6:00 p.m. As we are now learning songs and dances everyday students need to be picked up after 4:30 and avoid absences. There will be a lot to learn in a short period of time so absences, unfortunately may result in a student being excluded from certain song (we will learning songs and dances everyday of the week beginning in November so missing one day is equivalent to missing one week). We would also like students to attend a practice on Tuesday Dec. 14 from 2:30-4:30 at the church (parent's may bring students to the church and pick them up at the end of rehearsal).

MAGIC APPLE SCHOOL
DEAREST MAGIC APPLE FAMILIES:
GEOLOGY POEM: We currently have 50 members of the Magic Apple Poetry Society! Remarkably, these hard working students from grades 2-6 have taken the time to memorize AND recite this complex poem about the origins of our universe. We have rewarded our student's effort with a prize basket after they recite and will also be taking them on a field trip in November (details to follow).
MAGIC APPLE'S HOLIDAY SHOW: Mark your calendars for Thursday, December, 16 and be sure to invite friends and family for our annual holiday show at Resurrection Church (across from Safeway), from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Next week we will begin learning songs and dances and need students to be picked up after 4:15. There will be a lot to learn in a short period of time so absences, unfortunately may result in a student being excluded from certain song (we will learning songs and dances everyday of the week beginning in November). There will be a mandatory practice on Tuesday Dec. 14 from 2:30-4:30 (students who don't attend Tuesdays should meet us there).
FRAN'S AMAZING SCIENCE LESSON: It's no wonder our students love science (one of our "quiet little girls" just emailed Fran to thank him for inspiring her and to let him know that she's interning at the Mayo Clinic in neurosurgery) Fran makes it so interesting and so much fun! First he introduced molecules and atoms by showing an "empty" jar and then the quintillion molecules inside it (that would fit on a pencil tip). Then he dazzled students with dry ice--using it to make a gigantic bubble fountain, extinguish a flame, pop a cork from a bottle, etc. as he taught about the states of matter. After dry ice and apple juice refreshments students then divided into cooperative learning teams to send coke exploding after adding mentos--great fun and a most memorable lesson.
COOKING: Special thanks to Maddie Hill for sharing a wonderful cookbook and a cool recipe for mini pies. Our students were thrilled to work with biscuit dough and fruit to shape these tasty treats--watch for the recipes to come home!
ART: Our students are so amazingly creative and absolutely love art--both boys and girls. This season especially has us inspired as we've created our own monsters (students were presented with a variety of eyes and mouths) and written about their special powers (watch for our book to come home as we have mounted all of our student's work and will be sending it home to share). We have also done "quilt" artwork (displayed in room 1) with amazingly creative work, as well as Dia De Los Muertos embellished skulls, Halloween Zoom-In art (students use their eyes as cameras to produce exciting off-center close up drawings). We've framed and dated their artwork so watch for these wonderful creations as they come home.
HERO OF HISTORY: Fran taught about the young Benjamin Franklin. Ask your student about the only book he had (as they had to come from England books were rarely available so a very young Ben read the Bible from front to back and then started over again), how he loved water and what he developed after noting that most people could not swim and would drown if they fell in the water (flippers) and what he did when he was tired, dirty and hungry on his own in Philadelphia (gave his bread to a hungry mother and child. This week with special thanks to Cole Pacheco, we will watch Invictus, (the wonderful film that our Poetry Society saw after learning the poem of the same name) after our Hero of History lesson on Nelson Mandela.
HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR THIS WEDNESDAY: Thanks to our wonderful room decorators, this Wednesday will be a Halloween costume party and mini-carnival. Students should bring their costumes in a bag. We have some great plans including a cake walk, fortune telling, body parts game, penny pitch and beanbag toss, pin the wart on the witch and more!
SCIENCE DAYS THIS TUESDAY AND FRIDAY: Students are invited to dress like a scientist (open to any interpretation) and bring in their favorite science experiment, topic, nature book, or collection to share with others. We will divide into groups and students will be able to attend their favorite lessons. We are doing this on two different days so more students may participate.
BOOK SWAP Oct 28-Nov 12--Thursdays and Fridays: With special thanks to our vice president, Sophia Tatum-McNeilly, we will be having a book swap for the next few weeks. Students may bring in gently used books and will be giving shopping tickets (2 for hardcover, 1 for softcover) to "buy" new books. This is a great way to encourage our avid readers, recycle, and save money as they select new books. We would like students to bring in no more than 5 books.
DRAMA: Loads of Magic Apple students have taken to the stage as we've enjoyed, Aliens Take Over Aptos, an original play by Jan that tells the sad tale of aliens misfortune in attempting to conquer the earth on Halloween. Laura Landgraf, one of our wonderful presidents also wrote a script for students last week, and students also enjoyed performing in The Ghost Who Couldn't Say Boo, and The Boy Who Wanted the Willies. Our students really enjoy watching their peers as well as acting and are very talented!
Have a great week, your children certainly are!

ELECTIONS at MAGIC APPLE THIS YEAR were a great success; we were so impressed with the work students put into seeking office—such hard work and amazing creativity! Now the real work begins as their campaign promises are kept. Last week’s election ceremony by Max Lippert and our other presidents featured food, hand-made games, pom-pom making, balloon animals, and more—our officers are models for our nation in follow through . . .see below for more of their cool plans . . .
MORE SPECIAL STUDENT OFFICER DAYS:
APPLE HARVEST TIME AT MAGIC
We were just graced with many different visits from Magic Apple alumni—two who’ve recently completed B.A. degrees, one in her junior year at UC Davis, two Cabrillo students, and one in high school. Amazingly, they all mentioned many similar favorite times at Magic—Fran’s science lessons, the spring show, elections, and Apple Harvest time. Students this week will scour our orchards for the following apple categories: biggest, smallest, Best of Show, Weirdest. Students will also learn about the special qualities of apples, and do taste tests.
ART and COOKING:
To celebrate this special time we will also set up our wondrous apple-peeler-corer and make our own organic applesauce. For art, we’ll use fabric crayons to create original apple designs and then iron them on t-shirts. Last week’s glue and pastel art is framed and hanging in room 2; be sure to check out our magnificent birds on display when visiting.
BAG OF APPLE’S to HELP OUR WADDLE LIFELAB?
Our Greenhouse helpers would like to buy more soil/seeds and plants and you can help by ordering a fresh bag of organic apples (they may have small blemishes but are easily cut away). We will be selling ½ brown grocery bag full for only $2; just send your request with your student and we’ll send them out their to do the picking—they really are delicious (fuji apples)!
CONFERENCE WEEK OCTOBER 11-15:
Students will be dismissed two hours early during the week of October 11-15 when public schools close early for parent/teacher conferencing. Activity schedules and enrollment forms are posted above for conference week early pick-ups ($15 per day needed). Please note we will only pick up students who pre-register (parents may bring their student at regular dismissal time at no extra fee but must be pre-arranged so that we may coordinate with field trips).
Hope your week is as much fun as your student's week!
Jan and Fran
MORE SPECIAL STUDENT OFFICER DAYS:
- Wed. Sept. 22: WATER WARS (bring a swim suit in your pack to show you remembered).
- Fri. Sept. 24: $8 For FRESH CHOICE field trip (4-5—we’ll go straight to Deer Park afterwards); the actual price is $7.63 but we are asking for the extra to leave a tip (students may bring dress up clothes for dinner in a bag in their back pack).
- Tues. Sept 28: ACT LIKE THAT presented by drama leaders. (bring dress up clothes that represent anything you’d like to be as an actor/actress in a pack to show you remembered)
